One doesn’t replace the other
Formal training comes with set hours, an assessment, a certificate. A daily safety talk is something else entirely — the quick daily conversation that keeps that knowledge fresh, instead of forgotten in a folder three months later.
Why formal training alone isn’t enough
You can run an excellent training session in January, and by June the memory has already faded into routine. The daily talk fills that gap — small reminders that keep the content alive between one training cycle and the next.
Where to find talk topics
- Whatever felt a little unclear during the last formal training.
- Whatever showed up as an issue in the last inspection.
- A specific hazard tied to that day’s actual task.
Don’t force a complex topic into a 10-minute talk
Some things genuinely need formal training — time, hands-on practice, structure. You can’t teach it from scratch in a quick daily talk. The talk reinforces what’s already been taught; it doesn’t replace the teaching itself.
Together, they make the difference
Formal training builds the foundation. Daily talks keep that foundation active in the mind of whoever is facing that hazard every day.
