DDS Title: PPE Management and Control – Your Protection, Our Priority

Duration: 10 minutes

Date: ____________

Facilitator: ___________________________

🎯 OBJECTIVE

To raise awareness about the importance of proper PPE management, from delivery to correct use, ensuring effective protection for all workers through organized and documented processes.

📖 INTRODUCTORY STORY – PRACTICAL EXAMPLES (4 minutes)

Today’s Story:

Have you ever stopped to think about what happens when a new colleague arrives at the company? João, an experienced welder, told us about a situation he experienced at a previous company:

“It was my first day at work. I arrived excited, but when I went to collect my PPE, there was no organized list. I received a cracked helmet that no one noticed, fogged safety glasses, and a glove that didn’t fit my size. On the third day, a spark hit my face because the glasses weren’t adequate. That’s when I realized: it’s not just about delivering PPE, you need to deliver the RIGHT PPE, in the RIGHT CONDITION and with the RIGHT CONTROL.”

This story shows us how a simple control form can be the difference between safety and accidents. When we have the correct record of what was delivered, who received it, and in what conditions, we create a chain of protection that begins at hiring and extends throughout the worker’s entire professional life at the company.

🔍 DEVELOPMENT (4 minutes)

📌 3.1 Introduction to the Topic (2 minutes)

Why is documenting PPE delivery fundamental?

  • Important data: Companies with organized PPE management reduce accidents related to inadequate protection by up to 40%
  • Legal responsibility: NR-6 requires employers to provide adequate and free PPE, and workers have the duty to use them
  • Traceability: Knowing exactly what was delivered, when, and in what conditions protects both the company and the worker

Quality management teaches us that “what is not measured, is not managed”. This is especially true for PPE – our last line of defense against accidents.

🛡️ 3.2 Main Points (2 minutes)

4 Key Points for Effective PPE Management:

1. COMPLETE RECORD
– Employee name, position, delivery date
– Type and quantity of each PPE
– CA number (Approval Certificate)
– Receipt signature

2. CONDITION VERIFICATION
– New PPE or in perfect condition
– Within expiration date
– Appropriate size for each person

3. GUIDANCE AT DELIVERY
– How to use correctly
– How to maintain and clean
– When to request replacement

4. CONTINUOUS CONTROL
– Periodic renewal
– Replacement due to wear
– Form updates

💭 3.3 Interactive Discussion (1 minute)

Let’s reflect together:

  1. Have you ever received inadequate PPE? How did you feel?
  2. Has anyone experienced a situation where they didn’t know when they had received certain equipment?
  3. What consequences do you see when there’s no adequate PPE control?

[Time for participants to share their experiences]

✅ CONCLUSION AND COMMITMENT (1 minute)

Our Commitment:

  • Always check if our PPE is adequate before starting activities
  • Immediately report any problems with equipment
  • Keep our records updated
  • Take care of PPE as we take care of our own lives – because that’s exactly what they protect

💪 “Well-controlled PPE means a well-protected life. Together, we make safety a certainty, not a hope!”

❓ LEARNING VERIFICATION

  1. What are the 4 key points for effective PPE management?
  2. Why is it important to document PPE delivery?
  3. What should a complete PPE delivery record contain?

📋 SUPPORT MATERIAL (Optional)

  • F-SMS-010 form for filling practice
  • Examples of PPE with valid and expired CA
  • Poster with the 4 key points of PPE management
  • NR-6 – Regulatory Standard on Personal Protective Equipment

Target audience: Adaptable for both administrative environments (focus on management and documentation) and production (focus on practical use and care).

REMEMBER: Safety begins with attitude, continues with knowledge and is consolidated with organization!

The Last Record: When F-SMS-010 Reveals Its Secrets

But there’s something few people know about the F-SMS-010 form… In old company files, some of these documents carry mysterious annotations in the margins – codes that follow no known pattern. Workplace safety experts report cases where missing employees left only their forms as the sole clue, with equipment never returned and signatures never seen again.

Is it just coincidence that companies with strict PPE controls rarely face “unexplainable accidents”? The F-SMS-010 may be more than a simple form – perhaps it’s the silent guardian that protects workers from dangers that go beyond the visible. The next time you sign one of these, observe carefully: your safety may depend on every detail recorded in those apparently innocent lines.
